The James Gunn DC film opens in theaters and on HBO Max on Aug. 6.
A second trailer for The Suicide Squad dropped Thursday, taking fans by surprise as the first trailer for the upcoming DC Comics film was released just days ago. And, even more exciting for some, was the confirmation of Nathan Fillion’s character.
It happens quickly, but Fillion is shown with his arms detached, confirming that he is indeed playing Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, or The Detachable Kid. There has been a lot of hope among fans that Fillion would be playing one of the most random characters in the DC universe.
The reveal was not a huge shocker for some, as Fillion was listed as playing Floyd Belkin/T.D.K (which was assumed to mean The Detachable Kid), who has the ability to detach his own limbs and then use them as blunt weapons.
The sprawling Suicide Squad cast also includes a number of series newcomers, such as Sylvester Stallone, frequent Gunn collaborator Michael Rooker (Savant), Flula Borg (Javelin), David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher2), Idris Elba (Bloodsport), Mayling Ng (Mongal), Sean Gunn (Weasel), Pete Davidson (Blackguard), Peter Capaldi (The Tinkerer), Juan Diego Botto (Presidente General Silvio Luna), Joaquín Cosío (Mayor General Mateo Suarez), Jenn Holland (Emilia Harcourt), Storm Reid (Tyla) and Alice Braga (SolSoria).
Director James Gunn said of the surprise trailer drop, “Although it’s April Fool’s, the only joke here is on the supervillains who agreed to work for Amanda Waller. Brand new #TheSuicideSquad trailer which dropped last night exclusively in theaters! Meet us in theaters August 6!”
