Castle and Nashville, ABC’s last two “holdouts,” this winter will adopt the extended midseason break plan originated by such sister series as Once Upon a Time, Scandal and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Castle, which in recent years has only taken five or six weeks off in the winter, this season will air its fall finale on Nov. 23, then not resume Season 8’s 22-episode run until early February, TVLine has learned. This marks the first time since Season 2 (its first full season) that the procedural has not aired an original in January.

For Castle fans — the wait for February could feel particularly long. Because in the wake of the two-part premiere’s final twist, “Things are going to constantly evolve [for Rick and Kate], and by the time we get to the end of our fall finale, which will be Episode 8, there’s another shift and change that’s incredibly dynamic,” co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter said.

With Castle and Nashville on board, every returning ABC fall drama now is following the “gap” scheduling plan that was designed to deliver more continuous stretches of original episodes (and thus temper ratings erosion) and was first braved by Once (which last winter was on…

Alan Tudyk’s Vimeo on Demand series Con Man is set to premiere later this month — but fans of Tudyk and the series’ other star, Nathan Fillion, will get a first look at the opening three episodes when they stream exclusively here on EW (for free!) on Sept. 30.

Con Mon follows two men who used to star together on a sci-fi show. While one (Jack Moore, played by Fillion) went on to become a bonafide star, the other… well, didn’t. “My character is frustrated with his situation and frustrated by Jack’s stardom,” Tudyk, who plays Wray Nerely, told EW in March. “We follow Wray’s story as he goes to the conventions and does video-game voiceovers, and we are going to populate it with sci-fi actors and people that you will find at conventions.”

The first three episodes will stream for one hour on EW Sept. 30 beginning at 10 p.m. ET, and the cast will be joining in at a live-viewing party to watch and tweet with fans.

He’s best known for solving intricate crimes on ABC’s Castle. But the lovable Nathan Fillion can’t figure out how to stop getting pranked by co-star Jon Huertas.

Fillion spoke with ABC’s Albert Lawrence about the rambunctious pranks that Huertas throws his way on the set of Castle.

“I can always rely on him to put a smile on my face when I’m not supposed to be smiling,” Fillion said. “He’ll say something or do something and look at you like ‘try not to laugh, go ahead, deal with that.’”

Fillion also talked about how he keeps in touch with fans on social media.

“Here’s what I’ve learned: When you have access to something like the internet and you have a voice, anybody can tweet about anything,” Fillion said. “There are people on my Twitter feed that I recognize and I go ‘oh, that persons always good.’”

Watch the season premiere of Castle Monday, September 21 at 10 p.m. ET | 9 p.m. CT on ABC.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC and this station.

The set-up: The evening’s host — and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg — locked himself away in a bunker to watch “every show” so he can participate in TV conversations with his friends.

Along the way, he ran into all your small-screen favorites, including Castle‘s Nathan Fillion, The Odd Couple‘s Yvette Nicole Brown, Fresh Off the Boat‘s Randall Park, Mad Men‘s John Hamm, Scandal‘s Kerry Washington, Last Man on Earth‘s Will Forte (in a Les Miserables homage), Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk and many more.
