Although it’s been over 10 years now since we last journeyed through space with the crew of the starship Serenity, fans of Joss Whedon’s cult classic Firefly television series have never given up hope that we’d see the crew of Captain Malcolm Reynold’s starship one more time. While Star Wars fans and Trekkers might be loyal, it’s fair to say they ain’t got nuthin’ on Browncoats when it comes to fan devotion.

And while this isn’t news of a Firefly revival (one day, kids… one day… remember, you never thought you’d get a seventh Star Wars movie either) we’ve got the next best thing. The good folks at Loot Crate are about to make all you Browncoats out there very happy, as the company has just announced that they will be releasing a new bi-monthly service with QMx (Quantum Mechanix) called the Firefly Cargo Crate.

So exactly what can fans expect from the Firefly Cargo Crate? For starters, it’ll be delivering five to seven exclusive Firefly collectibles, wearables, and gear, all of which are valued at over $65. As part of this crate, where the theme is appropriately “Everything’s Shiny,” fans will be able to get an exclusive figure of the “Hero of Canton” himself, Jayne Cobb, which you can see below.

In short, this is a crate made for Browncoats by Browncoats. Shy of news that…

ABC’s Castle will return from the holiday break a week later than planned. But that’s hardly the most interesting scheduling news at hand.

To then get back on schedule, Castle will air on Sunday, Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day — leading out of a special telecast of The Bachelor. That episode, “Witness for the Prosecution,” sends the series to the courtroom in a bit of a “first.”

So, to be crystal clear: Three new episodes in eight days.

As Kate and Rick pretend to stay broken up (for LokSat’s sake) while secretly together, “There’s a lot of ‘lost time to make up for,’ so to speak, in the bedroom. So there is some friskiness,” teases co-showrunner Alexi Hawley. When not canoodling, they’ll tackle a case in the word of competitive a cappella (cue Susan Sullivan and Jon Huertas showing off their pipes!), enter the courtroom (a first for the series), visit the police academy where Kate trained and get some Red Heat action, butting heads with a diplomatic security agent from Russia. Also: When Rick, Alexis and Hayley chase a case to L.A., Gerald McRaney and Summer Glau guest-star, as you know. But what you may not know is that in that episode, the mystery of Rick’s missing time will be solved Once. And. For. All. Says showrunner Terence Paul Winter: “Here’s a promise: We are going to conclude that. It will be done.”

Even eight seasons in, ABC’s Castle has some fresh territory to be explored. Namely, a courtroom trial for one the many murders Beckett & Co. have solved.

And while the murder case at hand is not one viewers have seen unspool on-screen, the testimony of one Richard Castle promises to take viewers on a trip down memory lane.

“I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans,” says co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter, “because it refers to several things that have happened in the last few years.”

“He’s an ‘interesting’ guy to give testimony. He has to take the stand— annnnnd it kind of goes sideways,” Winter shares with a laugh. Adds Hawley, “So then there’s fallout from that, some scrambling to do damage control!”

It came down to the wire last year, with Castle‘s Stana Katic signing on for Season 8 hours before ABC’s upfront presentation. With deals pending for both Katic and costar Nathan Fillion, there’s been a lot of speculation about the show’s future, whether there are contingency spinoff plans or even a Castle 2.0 should Fillion and/or Katic opt not to return.

“We’d love for Castle to keep going for years to come,” ABC president Paul Lee said at a TCA panel today. “There are lots of good ideas for that. I don’t want to give a glimpse to what those ideas might be, but I’m feeling optimistic that we’ve got some good ideas.”
