For Nathan Fillion fans hoping to seen the actor cameo in the MCU again, it looks like he may not show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While the sequel hasn’t hit theaters quite yet, James Gunn is already beginning work on Guardians 3, which will wrap up the story of our roguish heroes so far. In between now and then, the galactic gang will also head off to help defeat Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. When they do, they’ll be joined by a number of new teammates. Sadly, Fillion won’t be one of them.

“Driven” – In the Season 6 finale, as Richard Castle drove to his much-anticipated nuptials, an ominous black SUV bore down on him. Meanwhile, after waiting in vain for Castle to arrive at the wedding, Beckett was called to an accident scene to find Castle’s car in a ravine, engulfed in flames. Who or what caused the car crash? Is there any way Castle could have survived? The episode will pick-up at the scene of that accident, right where the finale left off, in a premiere that promises to put Beckett through the toughest case of her career. Season 7 of “Castle” begins on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network.
“Castle” stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan, Penny Johnson Jerald as NYPD Captain Victoria Gates, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle with Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers.
Guest Cast: Maya Stojan as Tory Ellis, Ryan Sands as Sgt. Taggert, Jon Lindstrom as Agent Connors, Don Stark as Vincent “The Scar” Cardano, Matt Letscher as Henry Jenkins.
Nathan Fillion plays Johnny Worthington, one of the big men on campus in the new “Monsters University” film out on Friday.
While the actor might have the “swagger” to pull off the role now, the “Castle” star admitted to George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OTRC.com’s parent company, he was hung out with a “nerdy” group in college. Fillion also talked about being a huge fan of Pixar and how much time it took for him to record all of his lines.
Check out five highlights from Fillion’s interview below.
1. How much time did it take for him to do his voice work for “Monsters University”?
“You know what’s really clever is that you can do something for Pixar that maybe takes the better part of an afternoon one day and maybe an hour and a half another day,” Fillion said. “It actually kind of — sprinkle it out throughout a movie and it looks like you’ve come in and done something truly tremendous because so many other people have worked so very, very hard to make this thing great.”
“Really, it kind of boils down to a few hours, less than a day,…
TD: Did you have your own ideas going into production about how you’d adapt the roles?
Nathan Fillion: It’s strange how easily it lends itself to modern day.
CG: I knew it was the most accessible of Shakespeare’s work; the least verse. A fantastic love story [and] great comic characters. I remembered the poor geezer whose daughter is proposed to and then falsely accused of this huge scandal, and I remembered him being kind of ineffectual and doddering in the productions I’d seen. Then when I was doing it, now that I have a daughter, I was just enraged half the time; I wanted to kill everybody in sight. It wasn’t a comedy to me, at that point.
And I think that’s the kind of thing that happens when you don’t have the time to remember or watch movies or plan it out. It’s just, I don’t know, “Here I am, I’m in this scene, I’m in Joss’ house, and this guy is calling my daughter a slut in front of everybody! I may kill him!” You don’t worry about what’s appropriate; which I think is what happens a lot with Shakespeare, “How am I supposed to do this?”
How did Nathan Fillion first get into Pixar Animation Studios? Through the friend of a friend.
Someone he works with on the ABC detective series “Castle” grew up in Emeryville, Calif., the Bay Area home of Pixar, Fillion said in a recent phone interview. And that guy had a friend who worked at Pixar.
So Fillion organized a tour of the Pixar studios, for no other reason than “because I wanted to go,” he said.
“I like to think I did a Pixar ‘inception,’ to put a bug in their ear,” he said.
It worked. Fillion now is part of the Pixar crew — lending his voice to a character in the animation studio’s latest feature, “Monsters University,” which opens Friday, June 21, nationwide.
He provides the voice of Johnny Worthington, the studly BMOC — big monster on campus — who leads the Roar Omega Roar fraternity, the champions of Greek Row. His frat aims to recruit James P. Sullivan (voiced by John Goodman), the big blue furry monster audiences met in “Monsters, Inc.,” while shunning the green spherical geeky monster, Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal).
Being a voice actor, Fillion admitted, “is not a super-difficult job.” He recorded…
